Join us on our journey to raise awareness around Duchenne

Duchenne Boys documentary film

Duchenne Boys is Sohrab Kavir’s debut feature documentary film; the culmination of a 12 year journey inspired by his experience of having lost three brothers to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; a devastating muscle wasting disease and the number one genetic killer of children. The film follows Sohrab on a compelling pilgrimage as he navigates the trauma of sibling survivor’s guilt and draws comparison between Duchenne, as experienced in his youth and by boys living with DMD in modern Iran and the UK, where he now resides.

Currently circulating at film festivals internationally, Duchenne Boys has already claimed seven awards in its first season. However, despite this success we need further financial assistance to submit the film to more festivals and support the travelling costs involved in touring with the film in the hope of attracting further interest from film distributors and to guarantee the exposure that ‘Duchenne Boys’ deserves.

Concurrently, Sohrab founded the Duchenne Boys social media account which has been active in sharing the personal accounts of many families affected by Duchenne as well as raising awareness and connecting people from around the world to form a positive, supportive online community. Currently it hosts the highest number of followers on any Duchenne related page worldwide.
